There is palpable jubilation after President Muhammadu Buhari announced plans to to fund the educational group ASUU with the $2.1 billion initially intended for the construction of a rail line from Kano to Niger Republic.

The money will cover costs that will be used to fund the remodelling and rehabilitation of decaying university infrastructure.

Private Universities are not happy with the move as they suggest it could potentially snatch students who initially intended to study in their universities as these Federal Universities will now surpass them in Infrastructure and quality.

Prof Biodun Ogunyemi while speaking on behalf of ASUU thanked the President saying,

“Now we know Mr President is bent on fulfilling all his campaign promises to revitalise the Education sector. We are forever grateful”
